Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites is Hiring a Digital Content Creator Near Indianapolis, IN

We're seeking a full-time digital content creator to join our passionate team's mission to celebrate, explore and steward everything wonderful about Indiana.

About the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS):

The mission of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites is to celebrate, explore and steward all that is authentically wondrous about Indiana. The ISMHS is a forward-thinking, unparalleled resource for learning about and appreciating Indiana and its role in the world. We discover, collect, preserve, interpret and present artifacts and exhibits that showcase the stories of Indiana's natural and cultural history, art and science. 

Role Overview

The Digital Content Creator will work as part of the marketing and communication team to help implement the Indiana State Museum and Historic Site's overall marketing and communication strategies with primary focus on the digital user experience. This person is responsible for capturing/editing both video content and photos for use on social media and the website. Additionally, this person will do all content entry for the website, oversee maintenance and functionality of the website, and create and distribute digital communications. This position is full-time, in office.

A Day in the Life:

  • Content creation (video/animation) for use on social media and website.
  • Serve as marcom’s videographer and photographer. May include afterhours and weekend work.
  • Work with colleagues cross-functionally to ensure content on the website is accurate and timely, and manage expectations.
  • Write content for website and e-communications.
  • Consistently track/report web activity to help inform next steps to improve users’ overall web experience and keep ISMHS current on technology advancements.
  • Serve as liaison to ISMHS’s technology partners with proven ability to troubleshoot and fix web problems.
  • Develop, implement and oversee an annual plan for email marketing that shows steady rise in user engagement and continued growth in subscribership.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, graphic design, media or communications-related field. Relatable skills certifications and/or additional years of work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Photography and videography skills required; graphic design experience preferred.
  • Ability to write and edit to ensure written communications are clear, concise and accurate is required.
  • Experience using WordPress, email platforms (MailChimp), hosting platforms (FlyWheel), as well as various technical aspects of enhancing and maintaining a website (publishing workflow, content staging, etc.).
  • Proven understanding of Google Analytics, Google Tag manager, SEO.
  • Experience with JavaScript, CSS or HTML is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and confidence as a self-starter with attention to detail.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in professional work environment in web, video/photography production and communication.
  • Experience and proficiency using Microsoft products and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Passion for learning, change and thinking broadly to propose and implement new ideas and innovative solutions.
  • Ability to adapt and conform to shifting and multiple priorities while still meeting deadlines.
  • Able to present ideas and communicate information clearly, concisely and professionally.

Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $66,950 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
