New Graduates

New registered nurse (RN) graduates benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation. The program provides socialization and support, enhances clinical judgment, and promotes professional development.

The observation/short stay unit at Arnett Hospital contains 14 beds. Our nurses are trained to treat patients comprised of adult general medical/surgical. Our goal is to care for patients for a short period as they transition to discharge. This is a newly created unit where our team has the opportunity to build the foundation for growth and development.

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

• Medical-surgical nursing experience
• Enhanced communication skills
• Time management
• Prioritization skills

Unit success/designations:

• Newly opened unit

Unit culture/highlights:

• Magnet facility
• Extensive new graduate orientation

Qualifications

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
