What You Will Be Doing:
  • Clean, wrap, sterilize, store and distribute equipment, supplies, instruments and endoscopes used in patient care.
  • Assist area clinical staff by using specialized knowledge in surgical instrumentation and procedures to prepare for surgical cases.
  • Provide technical guidance to others involved in the assembly of instrumentation and preparation of case carts.
  • Train team on various skills and tasks.
  • Act as a resource or mentor for the team and other staff.
  • Provide functional guidance to the team and assists Manager with scheduling, training and inventory duties.
What You Will Need:
  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 national certification (CRCST,CSPDT,CFER or CST) and a 2nd national certification related to central service or sterile processing (Examples: CIS; CSIP; CFER; CST; CHMM; CHL).
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstration of expert knowledge and skills identified as necessary to function as a Tech III.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Advanced preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Endo instrumentation function and maintenance is preferred.
    24 CE credits annually that focus on information and advancement related to the CS field and be of a technical nature.
  • Must maintain current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA if in a hybrid OR/SPD role.
  • May require Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
