Industrial Applications, Inc. is Hiring a Construction Estimator Near Branch, MS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive prospective job information from Sales Manager or Outside Sales Representatives, review, ask additional questions to clarify scope and requirements, and generate quotes to customers within 24 business hours.
  • Evaluate and respond to bid invites on prospective jobs in our target geographical area, scope of work and size of project.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, operations, or foreman to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Analyze blueprints, project plans, specifications and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
  • Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings and conference calls.
  • Quantitative take-off and computer entry
  • Create an accurate estimate of costs of the job, including materials, labor, travel, tooling, supplies, equipment rentals and submittal costs – and resulting price to customer.
  • Reference historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the COO with recommendation for resolution.
  • Prepare scope letters, proposals, product data sheets and product samples as required.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Review contracts when received for adherence to agreed upon scope, scheduling, pricing, and contract elements.
  • Estimate and price changes in work, mobilizations or scope and create Change Orders as needed once contract is executed.
  • Maintain relationships with customers, General Contractors, vendors and subcontractors – must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company’s server within the confidential estimating folder(s)
  • Accurately communicate all necessary information to Operations one week prior to job start date, including invoicing and billing details and amounts. Communicate special order materials, training or badging requirements, and other unusual conditions of the job to Operations in plenty of time for the team to comply.
  • Work with customer and operations to schedule the job once awarded, communicating clearly and quickly all information from the customer.
  • Maintain a pipeline of quoted jobs, routinely following up, and scheduling future follow up if jobs are not going to occur presently.
  • Generate new leads from existing contractors and foster new relationships independently of Sales Manager.
  • Maintain a list of jobs won to follow up on scheduling.
  • Work with Accounting to expediently submit all closeout documents as requested by our customers in order to ensure timely payment on jobs.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years related experience in the construction industry.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
  • Mathematical skills to calculate estimates, coverage rates, discounts, percentages, etc.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, multiple takeoff programs, and general construction management software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with Spanish-speaking employees, multiple levels of customer, employees, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear. The employee should expect to sit for long periods in front of a computer and also travel to field locations as needed. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to write and type. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to commute to field locations to accurately perform takeoffs. The employee must have the ability to navigate around job site locations.
