The HVAC Mechanic will install, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems on cell tower sites. This role entails ensuring the proper functioning of HVAC units in diverse environmental conditions, conducting regular maintenance checks to prevent disruptions, and promptly addressing any issues that may affect the performance of cellular tower equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Install HVAC units on cellular tower sites, ensuring optimal performance in varying environmental conditions.
- Install specialized ductwork and temperature control mechanisms.
- Conducts regular maintenance checks on HVAC systems serving cellular tower sites to guarantee uninterrupted operation.
- Inspects and troubleshoots problems with existing HVAC units.
- Replaces components or parts of HVAC systems serving cellular tower sites as necessary to maintain functionality.
- Maintains inventory of replacement parts and orders replacements.
- Complies with company and industry safety standards.
- Undertakes any additional tasks relevant to HVAC maintenance and operation on cellular tower sites as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment.
- Ability to use power and hand tools.
- Ability to use thermometers, pressure gauges, and other testing devices to evaluate HVAC system.
- Ability to read operation and repair manuals for HVAC systems.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, as required to interact with customer.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational/technical school training or apprenticeship required.
- Two years of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to work on HVAC units.
- Will be required to work in settings with extreme cold or extreme heat, depending on time of year.
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, or climbing ladders.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
