Job Summary:

• Under limited supervision, the Microbiologist I is responsible for performing microbiological testing of products and raw materials, reading environmental monitoring plates from controlled areas, microbial identification work, and other applicable duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Performs routine microbiological testing of products according to SOPs and Methods.

• Documents routine procedures following laboratory and company guidelines.

• Reviews and approves work performed by technician and peers.

• Performs microscopic particulate analysis of products and commodities.

• Conducts microbiological identifications.

• Performs Bacterial Endotoxin Testing for raw materials as well as in-process and finished products.

• Generates deviation and investigation reports under the direction of the Microbiology Supervisor.

• Provides Microbiology oversight for media fill inspections as per applicable SOPs.

• Organizes and arranges Growth Promotion Testing of Microbiological Media.

• Assists on the generation of outside source information retrieval and evaluation in support of special project work.

• Performs Sanitization Efficacy Testing.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university with Major in Microbiology or equivalent.

• One to two years related experience and/or training.
