Summary: 

Keeping in line with the mission of the Innovation Charter High School to develop leadership through innovation, SLPs at Innovation ensure that our student-innovators will achieve rigorous academic goals by setting self-created, individualized educational goals within a three-tiered educational model of core classroom instruction, portfolio-based annual individual projects, and hands-on, experiential learning. 

SLPS will support students by providing mandated services and collaborating with staff to develop, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an inclusive learning environment that guides and encourages ALL students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree

• NY Speech Language Pathologist License Required - School-Based Experience Preferred

• CCC: ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency Preferred

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement speech and language interventions:
  • Provide mandated speech-language therapy services to students as mandated on the IEP.
  • Maintain daily session notes on SESIS and write IEP annual goals and progress reports for IEP meetings.
  • Collaborate with staff on best pedagogical practices for students who receive mandated speech services.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify students who may benefit from the addition of speech-language therapy.
  • Collaborate with families to support student growth in the areas of speech and language development.

• Develop professional skills that increase capacity to service students by
  • Identifying and creating professional development opportunities to expand your skills to meet the demands of individual student needs. 
  • Completing a minimum of 40 hours of professional development per year. 
  • Learning to optimize and incorporate technology into daily routine by taking part in digital knowledge-sharing and communication. 

• Provide students with mission-critical support services by

• Implementing full-time instruction/supervision for planning and instructing classes held during our school’s Enrichment Week.

• Hosting a minimum of two hours of weekly supplemental instruction (in-school tutoring or open office hours for the purpose of providing academic support services) OR provide supervision of a co-curricular team, class, club, or program

• Facilitating daily advisor responsibilities, including disseminating daily announcements, academic conferencing with advisees, and strategically communicating with advisees’ parents on student performance.

Evaluation

SLP performance is formally appraised during evaluation cycles that occur at least two times during the school year. Appraisals are transparent, collaborative, intended to promote professional growth, and based on accomplishing the major goals and responsibilities outlined above. 

Salary & Benefits

This is a full-time position. Starting salary is between $65,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Innovation offers an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, and a 401k retirement plan with an employer matching contribution up to 5%.
