Position Overview:

Imagine a preschool that combines the stability of a classroom with the excitement of daily outdoor adventures! Our unique home schooling program accommodates a small class of 9 kids, aged 3-6, led by dedicated Montessori-inspired teachers.

Traveling Classroom: Equipped with a school bus and an RV classroom trailer, we offer a consistent learning environment that travels to nature’s doorstep. Whether we're parked in our own backyards or exploring local parks and museums, learning never stops.

Outdoor Learning: We emphasize outdoor activities, where kids can learn about shapes, numbers, and words in the fresh air, surrounded by nature. Inside Learning: Inside the RV, children find a stable and cozy environment. Here, they can nap, enjoy classic school activities, and engage in focused learning sessions, providing a balanced day full of fun and education. All equipment will be provided for the teacher.

Multilingual Education: The ability to instruct in additional languages is a bonus but not a requirement.

As our Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering consistent instruction to a group of preschool-aged children in a homeschool setting. You will foster creativity, curiosity, and growth by developing a curriculum that supports hands-on, outdoor learning experiences and experiential exploration. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves to think outside the box and is enthusiastic about inspiring young minds. You will have a lot of freedom to create in your role.

Key Responsibilities: Design and implement a forward-thinking, hands-on curriculum with a Montessori-like background.Create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and discovery. Lead outdoor learning activities, nature walks, and field trips.Facilitate experiential learning opportunities that support problem-solving, creativity, and social-emotional development.Collaborate with parents to ensure consistent educational support and progress updates.Observe and assess student performance to guide individualized learning plans. Leadership and Decision-Making- As the lead teacher, take initiative and make informed decisions for the group, ensuring the best outcomes in any situation, with support from a second teacher or a parent assistant at all times.

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with a Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or Waldorf background:

Candidates should meet the Virginia Department of Education requirements for Preschool Teachers. Must hold a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or a related field. Applicants with a Montessori or similar educational background are preferred or alternatively have a minimum of 30 semester hours in early childhood education with at least one year of teaching experience, preferably in a Montessori or similar setting. A clean criminal background check. Strong commitment to outdoor education and experiential learning.Excellent communication and collaboration skills with children, parents, colleagues and the ability to work independently.Creativity, adaptability, and a passion for inspiring curiosity in young learners. First aid and CPR certification.

Holidays & Pay Rate

Vacation time: 1 week at Christmas, 3 weeks in the summer annually.
