Position: Research Scientist: Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering
Reporting Line: Lab head
Location: Mountain View, CA, US
We are seeking a self-motivated and skilled researcher with expertise in the field of antibody discovery and Protein Engineering to join the effort of developing novel pipeline drug candidates from early discovery to clinical development. This position supports antibody drug discovery on novel therapeutic targets. Successful candidate is expected to use a variety of antibody discovery platforms, protein engineering, cellular and molecular biology and biochemical methods in support of drug discovery programs.
Job Responsibilities
1. Antibody lead generation and optimization using Phage display platforms.
2. Gene cloning, plasmid preparation, antibody expression and purification.
3. Antibody characterization using a variety of biochemical methods, Flow Cytometry, affinity measurement using BLI/SPR, etc.
4. Conduct in vitro assays for target POC and antibody screening. Contribute to advanced assay development and in vitro functional studies.
5. Prepare and submit samples, analyze, and report the data, and maintain safe and efficient lab operations.
6. Collect, analyze and present data in both internal and external research meetings and conferences.
7. Maintain good lab note documentation for IND enabling and patent application.
8. Represent early research group in cross-functional collaborations.
9. Proactively assist Lab head and Lab manager in procurement and administration.
Qualifications
1. Ph.D. in related research field or M.S. with at least at least 2 years of related industrial research experience.
2. Previous working experience in antibody discovery, affinity maturation using display platforms (phage/yeast) and hands-on experience of antibody purification using FPLC (e.g. ÄKTA Avant System).
3. Experienced in conducting biochemical and cell-based assays, multi-color flow cytometry and cell culture.
4. Past experience in advanced assay development, disease-relevant in-vitro models, or pipeline project is a plus.
5. Independently perform experiments, efficiently trouble-shooting under supervision of lab head.
6. Excellent inter-personal skills. Can communicate complex concepts with audience of diverse backgrounds and levels. A good team player.
7. Agility. Can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and under tight timeline to ensure high quality delivery.
8. Good organizational skills. Be capable of multitasking.
