Inova Oakville Surgery Center is actively looking for experienced Full-time, Part-Time and PRN GI Technicians to become integral members of our Gastroenterology/Endoscopy (GI/Endo) team, delivering unparalleled care to our patients. The schedule for this position are 8-hour shifts, M-F. Part-Time & PRN schedules will vary. Join us in shaping the future of healthcare.

Oakville Ambulatory Surgery Center, situated at 400 Fannon St. Alexandria VA in the Potomac Yards area of Alexandria, is nearing completion in its construction phase. This cutting-edge facility will be a cornerstone of the newly established Inova medical campus, scheduled for inauguration in mid-2024.

Boasting state-of-the-art infrastructure, the center will feature three (3) Operating Rooms, (3) Procedure/GI Suites, and 12 PreOp/PACU bays, all geared towards delivering top-tier medical services to our community.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Monday-Friday
  • Day shift only, no nights, weekends, call, or holidays

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Cleans and decontaminates patient use items by taking apart scopes, rinsing, and soaking scopes and suing washing/disinfection equipment.
  • Keeps required records such as biological testing records and unit checks.
  • Performs required environmental and/or equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Assists with room turnovers by setting up for specific endoscopic procedures.
  • Receives faulty equipment and marks it appropriately prior to sending them out for repair.
  • Distributes supplies and stocks storage areas.
  • Assists in the scrub role during procedures
  • Assists physicians during endoscopic procedures with specimen retrieval.
  • Assist with patient positioning under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

EXPERIENCE YOU'LL NEED:

  • One of more years of GI Tech experience to include scope processing is required
  • The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses & Associates (SGNA) Program Completion/Certification is highly desired
  • BLS certification required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of endoscopic procedures and equipment
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating endoscopy equipment, including video systems, endoscopes, and related accessories
  • Ability to maintain a sterile field and follow infection control protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation practices.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
