Boston University Academy is seeking a part-time Learning Specialist serving students in grades 9-12. The position begins in August 2024.

The Learning Specialist will work alongside a returning Learning Specialist and as part of a broader Student Support Team.

It is likely a one-year role with a possibility of continuation. The primary responsibility will be meeting one-on-one to support students with executive functioning and a variety of learning styles.

The Learning Specialist may also be involved in reviewing and processing psycho-educational testing; making recommendations to families about additional support (e.

• g. testing, tutoring, or outside professional support); maintaining the list of students with school-approved accommodations and sharing with faculty on a need-to-know basis;
• submitting and supporting applications to the College Board and other testing organizations for testing accommodations; working closely with teachers to determine student needs and offer advice about ways teachers can best support the students;

leading professional development for faculty around learning disabilities and learning strategies. The Learning Specialist reports to the Associate Head of School.

Required Skills

A master's degree in special education, educational psychology, or a related field and at least three years of experience in a support team role are preferred.
