InSight Eyewear is Hiring an Optical Laboratory Technician Near Monterey, CA

POSITION SUMMARY: To deliver exceptional eyewear in accordance with InSight Eyewear quality, accuracy and craftmanship standards. Ensure speed and reliability of service. To work as a cohesive team with pride, productivity, professionalism, adherence to policies and guidelines, and accountability at all times. Work diligently to maintain the operational and merchandise standards and expectations of the company.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Some retail sales and/or customer service work experience; experience in the optical industry preferred

· Knowledge of basic mathematics and algebra

· Possess excellent oral and written communication skills

· Able to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends

· Excellent organizational skills

· Detail oriented

· Multitasking and time-management skills

· Professional attitude and appearance

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Inspect lenses to detect flaws; ensure accuracy of prescription, lens coating, color, base curve, lens thickness.

· Set up machines to block, polish, bevel, edge including hand edging, or grind lenses per order specifications. Shape lenses appropriately by tracing lens pattern or frame so that lenses can be inserted into frames.

· Position and adjust cutting tools to specified curvature, dimensions, and depth of cut. Mount attachments or tools onto production equipment.

· Inspect and measure mounted lenses after completion to verify alignment and conformance to specification, using precision instruments. Mount, secure and align finished lenses in frames using precision hand tools.

· Clean finished lenses and eyeglasses, using approved cloths and solvents.

· Assemble eyeglass frames and attach shields, nose pads, and temple pieces, using pliers, screwdrivers, and drills. Complete repairs using precision equipment.

· Ensure lab is well stocked with nose pads, nylon string, temple and nose pad screws, solvents, miscellaneous parts, etc.

· Always keep laboratory, machines and equipment clean and organized to ensure proper functionality.

· Handle customer questions and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.

· Share store maintenance and cleaning duties with co-workers by maintaining well organized work areas, accurate store records and files, greeting customers, answering telephones, inputting data, dusting merchandise displays, vacuuming, keep bathrooms clean and well stocked as well as kitchen, etc.

· Assist co-workers as needed, including rendering assistance to management when requested.

· Maintain and continually develop professional skills and knowledge.

· Maintain good working relationships with other employees, customers, and vendor representatives.

· Successfully complete any and all required training in a timely manner.

· Protect all Company assets, including inventory, parts, and equipment.

· Project a positive attitude toward all company objectives and directives; always demonstrate teamwork, including attendance at staff meetings and other training or company functions as required.

· Always demonstrate dedication to honest and ethical business practices. Uphold company standards to professional behavior in all business dealings.

· Other assignments as required.
