Must Haves:

• Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) from accredited U.S. law school.
• Licensed in state of residence (IL or TX).
• 5 years of experience as a Consumer Law Attorney.
• Experience in civil or commercial litigation cases.
• Personal injury case experience.
• Excellent communication, leadership skills, and ability to take on responsibilities outside scope of role.
• Comfortable working onsite in Chicago or Austin highly preferred (possibly would accept a remote candidate in TX).

Day to Day:

• Advise clients about their legal rights in areas such as Consumer Protection Law.
• Consult with clients to understand their concerns and assess the validity of their claims.
• Prepare and draft legal documents, such as complaints, briefs, and other pleadings to be filed with the court.
• Gather evidence to formulate a defense or initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain facts of a case.
• Negotiate settlements of civil disputes:
• Advocate for changes in laws and regulations that will better protect consumers.
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
• Present evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.
• Collaborate closely with Partner of the firm on all current and upcoming cases.
• Light supervision of Paralegals / Legal Assistants on team. No supervisory experience required.
