Learning Management System Administrator - 502150
SUMMARY:
This position provides primary support for the Learning Management System at the University of Richmond. The individual selected for this role should have deep expertise in the Blackboard product suite administration, end user support, workflows within Blackboard, 3rd party integrations, and overall system support best practices.
This position will work closely with university faculty to provide effective use of the LMS in the teaching and learning environment. This position will also work closely with Information Services peers to ensure that the systems that make up the Learning Management suite of services are managed properly. This position will also collaborate with peers across the university to ensure that faculty technology and pedagogical needs are being addressed within the LMS support environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Administration - Blackboard Learn Management System
  • Fully manage, monitor, and test the LMS, including the development of project plans, communications plans, test plans, and 3rd party integrations.
  • Integrating Blackboard with other 3rd party data feeds and plug-ins, including authentication
  • Responsible for the academic and non-academic course structures
  • Responsible for coordinating the SIS data integration
  • Responsible for coordinating with department staff, including the CISO and Registrar to maintain a secure yet robust enterprise academic system
  • Create and Manage Users, Roles, and Privileges
  • Create and Manage Courses, Catalogs, and Terms
  • Responsible for LMS technical documentation
  • Create and Manage Enrollments
  • Provide additional support in evaluating, implementing, and managing LMS supportive instructional technologies
  • Represent Academic Computing Services on campus technology-related committees as needed
  • Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based on departmental needs
Technical Support / User Interface
  • Provide end user consultation and training
  • Be the single point of product issue escalation and troubleshooting
  • Scheduling and leading and/or coordinating Blackboard training sessions
  • Participate in testing and quality assurance related to products
  • Manage System-wide Tools and Utilities
Reporting and Communication
  • Lead design and development of reports, dashboards, and metrics with the core Blackboard products
  • Goals Management and Reporting
  • Participate in decision making as it applies to general changes to the system, additional functionality, interfaces, changes in configuration, etc.
  • Interface with Blackboard consulting, product development, support teams and client management as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in writing and/or editing technical documentation
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, practices, and theories
  • Experience in creating and providing faculty training
  • Experience in timeline and project management
  • Knowledge of web accessibility requirements
  • Preferred: Blackboard certification credentials
  • Preferred: 3 years of recent experience working as a Blackboard Learn System Administrator.
  • Preferred: management of instructional technology tools and applications
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution required. Master's degree in Education or related field desired
WORK HOURS:
  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week; occasional nights and weekends as needed
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 8 (Hiring Range: $64,210.00 to $85,072.00 annually)
