Our client in San Diego is seeking a Sr. Insurance and Contracts specialist to join their team.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 5 years of experience working with construction contractors and insurance claims.
• Understanding of California construction law

Your responsibilities will include:

Contract Review and Analysis:

• Examine contract agreements between the Prime Contractor or Owner.
• Prepare memos with recommended changes to contract language.
• Advise project managers on contract-related matters.
• Attend meetings for contract negotiations.

Corporate Compliance:

• Maintain corporate standing with state agencies.
• Handle contractor’s license renewals in California.

Insurance Obligations:

• Understand and review contractual insurance requirements.
• Work with insurance claims adjusters when needed.

Certificates of Insurance (COIs):

• Request and review COIs for both Company and Subcontractors.

Payment Recovery:

• Assist project managers in recovering owed project payments.
• Handle lien-related actions (mechanic’s lien, stop notice, foreclosure).

Legal Notices and Claims:

• Receive legal notices, claims, subpoenas, and lawsuits related to insurance and contracts.
• Coordinate legal responses and communicate with outside counsel.

Litigation Support:

• Regularly liaise with outside counsel regarding litigation status.
• Manage legal files related to claims and disputes.

Information Gathering:

• Collect relevant information for claims and litigations.
• Interview project employees as directed by counsel.

Financial Oversight:

• Review invoices from attorneys, experts, and vendors for legal services.

Professional Development:

• Attend seminars and stay updated on contract and insurance law changes.
• Educate employees on contract and insurance matters.
