Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Must be 21 years of age or older to work directly with youth
- Able to work cooperatively with multiple members of a team
- Clear MVR check
- Clear criminal background check
- Including a national criminal fingerprint background check
- Clear drug testing results
- In adherence with federal or state contract requirements: proof of COVID vaccinations and other immunizations (i.e., varicella, measles, mumps, tetanus, Tdap, Rubella, Flu, Hepatitis A and B)
Responsibilities:
- Youth Care Professional (YCP) is responsible for providing direct care and supervision for unaccompanied children and youth
- The YCP must ensure that services comply with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) licensing rules and ORR policies
- Support the intake process and assist in assessing and addressing each child’s physical, medical, and behavioral health needs
- Serve as the child’s first initial contact and ensure that their basic immediate needs are met
- Actively engage in daily programming activities for children and youth and coordinate/facilitate recreational activities, educational/tutoring services, vocational services, and structured leisure activities
- May also be designated as a Youth Activity Leader for Youth Lead Empowerment Activities
- Assist in the crisis response for children and youth identified as high-risk for runaway or who may have absconded and to provide behavioral support
- May be assigned to assist in the discharge planning team for children and youth who may be reunifying with sponsors or returning to their country of origin
- Supervise children and youth in various locations and during different activities
- Take meals with youth and supervise youth during mealtimes due to ratio-dependent requirements
- Conduct timely room checks during asleep or awake hours of youth while in their designated bedrooms
- Maintain a log of all bedroom supervision checks conducted during sleeping or awake hours while youth are in their bedrooms
- Ensure that youth wake up timely, engage in morning hygiene activities, bedroom/bathroom chores, and prepare for scheduled activities.
