Inspire Recruitment Inc. is Hiring an Information Governance Manager - Contract Near Austin, TX

Job Details

We are working with a government agency in Austin Texas to find an Information Governance Manager for their team. This is a great job for a professional who has experience with accessibility and is passionate about records and information management.

You will be responsible for program administration, consultative services, and technical assistance work that involves planning, developing, and implementing the agency s Records and Information Management (RIM) Program, including the agency s Record Retention Schedule. You will serve as the Records Management Officer (RMO) assisting the Information Services Director with cyber security reporting, training, and monitoring

This will be a six-month contract with the potential of a permanent position. You must be based in Austin, or commutable to downtown to qualify. This position will be initially on site 5 days per week and will shift to 2 days remote and 3 on-site in Austin working with the team in time.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers the agency s Records and Information Management (RIM) Program
  • Develops RIM guidelines, policies, and procedures for records and information in all formats.
  • Serves as the agency s point of contact with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC).
  • Oversees the agency s Records Retention Schedule (RSS), ensuring the RRS accurately reflects the records created and maintained by the agency.
  • Ensures the RRS meets all requirements and is certified by TSLAC.
  • Develops and updates the agency s accessibility policies and procedures.
  • Designs implements, and operates a distributed capability for accessibility across the agency s divisions.
  • Develops and maintains the agency s accessibility and data classification performance metrics and dashboards; reports on progress and improvements.
  • Develops and updates the agency s data classification policies and procedures.
  • Monitors data classification of the agency s electronic records and conducts related training
  • Minimizes retention and facilitates disposal of PII.
  • Assists with auditing and reporting
  • Identifies RIM training needs for staff and develops training materials.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining the agency s data privacy policy/program and associated training
  • Conducts RIM training for New Employee Orientation (NEO) and conducts agency-wide RIM training as needed.
  • Works with agency executives, General Counsel, Information Services, program heads, and others to ensure record capture, protection, and management of all agency records.
  • Determines the need for and assists in identifying requirements for automating records and information management programs.
  • Tracks and identifies RIM trends and resolves operational problems.
  • Monitors and evaluates the budget for RIM services.
  • Monitors RIM-related services and reconciles, evaluates, and reports service performance.
  • Assists with risk management policies, procedures, and training

Requirements:

  • Four (4) years of experience in records and information management or closely related experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in library science, information science, or a related field;
  • Experience in RIM, including implementing RIM initiatives through division or department coordinators;
  • Experience with electronic records, applying RIM principles and best practices, and records storage procedures.
  • Certified Records Manager (CRM) from the Institute of Certified Records Managers required on or before the first anniversary of the hire date.
  • Experience managing and maintaining an RRS for a government organization would be preferred
