Title: Accountant
Location: St. Louis, MO, Minneapolis, MN or Saint Louis, MO or St. Paul, MN (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Duration: 6 months (Contract to hire)
Compensation: $43.00-$47.00/Hour
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
 
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel
- Knowledge of Power BI or Power Query preferred
- Considerable knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulations
- Hold FINRA Series 27 or be able to pass testing within 4-month window (120 days)
- Considerable knowledge of accounting, reporting, and analysis
- Ability to identify and resolve exceptions and to analyze data
- Experience in project management and working across teams to drive results
 
Top 3 MUST HAVE skills or experience required:
A candidate with knowledge of GAAP/accounting/reporting, proficiency in excel, and someone who can work independently.
Preferred experience or skills would you like to see but not a deal breaker:
Previous accounting experience is obviously a must. Someone who has prepared journal entries or prepared financial statements is also something preferable. Public accounting background preferred. A strong understanding of excel is required.
 
Minimum education requirements:
Usually, a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or 5 or more years of experience in financial accounting activities.
 
Responsibilities:
 
- Maintains adequate accounting and control for various accounting functions.
- Prepares journal entries.
- Assists with regulatory reporting as needed.
- Prepares financial statements and reports.
- Maintains and supports development of automated accounting systems, controls, and procedures.
- Prepares and develops reports for management and/or for regulatory authorities.
- Responds to inquiries regarding accounting policies, procedures, and issues from management, external auditors, and regulatory authorities.
