Scientist
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 6 Months (Potential Temp to hire)
Shift: 8am - 5pm, Mon-Fri

The Senior Scientist will play a critical role in conducting and documenting experiments integral to the development, verification, and stability studies of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products. This position requires expertise in microbiology, particularly in antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

Primary Duties

• Design and execute experiments for development, verification, and stability studies.
• Conduct microbiological testing, including new instrument evaluation and AST panel assessments.
• Process biological samples using aseptic techniques and maintain lab safety protocols.
• Document all experiments meticulously in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Analyze and interpret data, preparing comprehensive reports and presentations.
• Draft protocols, SOPs, and technical reports to support project milestones.
• Mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
• Troubleshoot microbiological and system issues, ensuring timely resolution.
• Adhere to FDA, ISO 13485, and bioMérieux Quality standards in all activities.

Knowledge and Skills

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 3 years in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in clinical diagnostic and susceptibility assays for infectious diseases.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis, study design, and system troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques, GDP, and GLP.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and FDA Quality System Regulations.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a BSL2 environment and clinical microbiology laboratory.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Pay: $40.00 - $58.00 per hour
