Integrity Risk International is a leader in the evolution, growth, and delivery of risk management services. We are actively looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Reston, VA. The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing hands-on accounting support to ensure an efficient and successful accounting function. This person will assist the Finance team with accounting, billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions. The Staff Accountant will provide team support and liaise between other finance team members and management. This is a full-time, hybrid position (40 hours per week; combination of in-office/remote) with excellent benefits (e.g., health, dental, vision, and paid time off).

What you will do:

  • Prepare monthly, internal financial reports, including balance sheet accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Continually analyze, research, and identify accounting, workflow, and productivity technology and tools to increase accounting and technical proficiency of self, others, and company.
  • Assist with accounting of international subsidiaries, including organizing and posting transactions. Must understand accounting for multiple currency transactions and currency translations.
  • Assist, support, and lead accounting specialties, including client billing, coding and entering contractor and vendor invoices, review employee expense reports to ensure compliance with company polices, and record payments received from clients (accounts receivable), while compiling supporting documentation, and recording bank deposits.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts each month.
  • Confirm that we have signed vendor contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and W-9 forms and document them in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure that external documentation submissions and filings are accurate and timely (1099 forms, County Business License and County Personal Property forms).
  • Provide assistance regarding accounting and budgeting policies and prepare procedures for efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
  • Identify, as appropriate, expense reductions and present solutions to management.
  • Track and record fixed assets and related depreciation/amortization.
  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

What you bring:

  • At least one year of experience responsible for accounting or full charge bookkeeping related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries through trial balance, including general ledger reconciliation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration from an accredited college or university required.
  • Demonstrated expertise with internal financial statement preparation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner.
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, Word, and Excel. Experience with QuickBooks Online, and other automated workflow platforms and accounting applications a plus.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with a proven ability to troubleshoot and improve business processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional presence to work effectively with a team.
  • Must be a detail-oriented person who carefully reviews their own work to ensure complete accuracy of data provided.
  • Strong organizational planning skills with a high sense of urgency in meeting deadlines.
  • Flexible and able to multitask; can work within a fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions.
  • Able to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with consulting business and/or small business preferred.
