Job Title : Sterile Processing Technician
Location : Rochester, NY
Schedule : Shifts TBD, Weekend Rotation Required
Job Description : We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team in Rochester, NY, for a 13-week contract.
The ideal candidate will have experience in sterile processing and be responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
Key Responsibilities :
Aseptic Technique and Procedure Assistance :
Apply principles of aseptic technique to equipment preparation and maintenance.
Assist with maintaining sterile integrity throughout the procedure.
Identify any potential compromises to sterile integrity.
Equipment Maintenance and Sterilization :
Disassemble and inspect equipment for defects or malfunctions.
Perform preventive maintenance on procedure supplies and equipment.
Follow all cleaning requirements per regulatory standards for surgical instruments, including inspection, cleaning, sterilizing, and identifying needed repairs.
Adhere to established protocols for reprocessing surgical instruments and equipment.
High-Level Disinfection :
Determine methods of high-level disinfection based on material and / or manufacturer's instructions.
Check and calibrate equipment according to protocol.
Ambulatory Technician Duties :
Perform ambulatory technician duties as assigned, including but not limited to obtaining and documenting vital signs and transporting patients.
Job Requirements :
Certification in sterile processing preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing.
Strong understanding of aseptic technique and sterilization protocols.
Ability to perform equipment maintenance and sterilization procedures.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Must be able to work weekend rotations.
