Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Engineer to join our team in Alexandria. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process design and engineering for industrial plants, with a focus on chemical processes. The role involves working onsite in a process plant environment and delivering comprehensive engineering packages related to process engineering.
Responsibilities
- Onsite Engineering: Serve as an onsite Process Engineer in a process plant environment, ensuring effective communication and coordination with the team.
- Design and Engineering Packages: Deliver designs and engineering packages related to process engineering, including PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) for industrial plants.
- Scope Definition: Define the scope of work through discussions with customers, coordinating with the offshore team, and delivering engineering deliverables.
- Coordination: Collect all necessary inputs from customers and coordinate with vendors and the construction team to complete the design and perform technical evaluations of vendor quotations.
- Design Reviews: Attend design reviews with customers and the construction team, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained.
- Construction and Start-Up Support: Provide support during construction and start-up activities, ensuring smooth transitions and addressing any issues that arise.
- Start-Up Activities: Assist with start-up activities as needed, ensuring processes are running as intended
- Industrial Experience: Proven experience as a Process Engineer in industrial plants, including chemical, agrochemical, pharmaceutical, fine chemicals, specialty chemicals, or food & beverages industries
- Surfactant Plant Experience: Experience in surfactant-making plants is highly preferred.
- Design Skills: Ability to prepare and interpret PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balance, and hydraulic calculations.
- Chemical Engineering Fundamentals: Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, solid handling, and mass transfer.
- Equipment Specification: Experience specifying and selecting process plant equipment independently, including pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, and other equipment.
- Powder Handling Equipment: Experience in powder handling equipment sizing and design is advantageous.
- Safety and Management: Experience in selecting safety devices and conducting process safety management activities.
- Sanitary Systems: Previous experience with sanitary piping and process systems is a plus.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office applications is required; familiarity with AutoCAD, AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, or similar hydraulic calculation software is an added advantage
- Ability to climb stairs and remain standing for at least 2 hours.
- Capability to lift up to 25 lbs if needed.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment with diverse perspectives.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering
Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years in process engineering within industrial plants
Work Permit Status: Valid work permit, Green Card holder, or US Citizen
