Job Description
- The main function of a quality engineer is to research and test the design, functionality and maintenance of products, equipment, systems and processes and develop quality standards.
- A typical quality engineer has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and evaluate product integrity and standards.
- Develops physical measurement methods and vision system equipment to perform device testing and/or inspections in R&D bench testing and manufacturing.
- Devises and executes characterization studies to evaluate device performance and quantify process outputs.
- Determines visual criteria through engineering studies and implements in manufacturing through technical documentation, work instruction, and attribute test method validation.
- Devises and executes test method validation activities, including equipment qualification, test fixture design and qualification, software validation, GR&R, etc.
- Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
- May write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
- May specialize in areas of quality control engineering, such as design, process control, product evaluation, metrology, automated testing, software, research and development, and administrative application.
- Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
- Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
- Team player and detail-oriented.
- Basic leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
- Technical writing proficiency.
- Computer applications and software skills related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) and statistical analysis software.
- Experience in working with and developing machine vision systems preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- 2-4 years experience required.
