Job DescriptionTitle: Housing Coordinator Specialist, Rapid Rehousing
Reports to: Program Director of Rapid Rehousing
Employment Status: Full-time
FSLA Status: Exempt
Pay rate: $51,000- $60,000 Annually
Position SummaryThe Interfaith Works Rapid Rehousing Program provides supportive services to 75 formerly homeless individuals receiving temporary housing subsidies from Montgomery County Health and Human Services. The program is designed to help individuals maintain housing in scattered sites across the county to increase income and achieve complete housing independence. The Housing Coordinator Specialist is responsible for assisting in each participant's housing search, conducting housing inspections, helping to manage participant leases, and offering tenancy support, which includes establishing and facilitating trusting relationships with the participants, landlords, property managers, and County employees. In conjunction with the Case Managers, the Housing Coordinator Specialist monitors, evaluates, and advocates for services that address the participant's barriers.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Work with the Program Director and Rapid Rehousing team to ensure participants have the individualized support they need to maintain housing and achieve independence.
  • Build rapport with clients using strengths based and Housing First approaches.
  • Conduct unit inspections to ensure they meet requirements outlined by local and federal regulations.
  • Report all concerns about participants to the Case Managers and Program Director.
  • Work with the Case Managers to connect the participants to needed resources and referrals.
  • Maintain communication and rapport with Montgomery County HHS, landlords, and/or property management companies to ensure stability of participants in the community.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Joins Coordinated Entry Committee meetings and other relevant meetings held by the County.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate and help Case Managers maintain client files by providing updated lease, sublease, and rent payment documents.
  • Schedule appointments for participants to visit available apartments.
  • Accompany Case Managers on participant visits or meet with participants alone as requested by Case Managers.
  • Help participants relocate belongings when moving to a new unit.
  • Join the Montgomery County's Homeless Continuum of Care Coordinated Entry System calls
  • Participate in Interfaith Works meetings, including monthly Case Management & Vocational meetings, and other activities.
  • Meet with the Program Director for weekly supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
  • Experience working with the target population preferred.
  • Very strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of crisis interventions, harm reduction, and trauma informed care.
  • Ability to identify and react appropriately to signs of behavioral issues among participants.
  • Strong cultural competence to serve clients from diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and with a highly integrated team, collaborating with other Interfaith Works programs and departments.
  • Knowledge of (and/or willingness to learn and explore) community resources related to homelessness.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office365, in addition to Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus.
