Interim Principal, Lakeshore Intergenerational School Job Title: Interim Principal School/Entity: Lakeshore Intergenerational School Status: Full-time, Salary, Exempt Location: Cleveland, Ohio (Collinwood Neighborhood) Reports to: Executive Director Our SchoolsThe Intergenerational Schools are the #1 rated nonprofit charter school network in Ohio for academic achievement. Three of the four top schools in Cleveland for middle school English Language Arts achievement are Intergenerational Schools. All three schools were named to US News & World Reports’ Best Elementary Schools in 2022.
For more than 20 years, our mission has been to connect, create, and guide a multigenerational community of lifelong learners and spirited citizens as they strive for academic excellence. As the third and newest school of the Intergenerational Schools, opened in 2014, Lakeshore Intergenerational School is looking for a dynamic leader to guide our community of lifelong learners into the school’s next chapter.
Position DetailsThe Interim Principal ensures that the mission, values, shared vision and philosophy of the school and Intergenerational Model are upheld by all members of the school community. He/she is responsible for meeting the needs of every student in the areas of safety, security, and academic achievement, including the education of children with disabilities or English language learning needs. He/she is responsible for development (and co-development) and facilitation of professional development activities; hiring, supervision, mentoring and evaluation of faculty and staff; and implementation and evaluation of the Intergenerational Model Educational Program. It is his/her responsibility to implement Model policy and procedures, and in collaboration with the leadership team, guarantee the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the school. The Principal works in partnership with fellow Intergenerational Principals, Operations Directors (for fiscal, facilities, and compliance management) and the Executive Director in addition to other positions designed to support the Model.
The Principal reports to and is evaluated by the Executive Director. The Principal is evaluated using the Ohio Principal Evaluation System (OPES) 2.0 and in accordance with the Ohio Standards for Principals.
The Intergenerational School’s next Principal will be an instructional leader committed to:
  • ensuring a high-quality education for all students,
  • fostering a nurturing and responsive school community for students, staff, and families, and
  • upholding the Intergenerational Model’s mission and vision of intergenerational learning and academic excellence.
Specific ResponsibilitiesPedagogy And Delivery Of Instruction
  • Ensure that the educational philosophy, mission, vision, and values of the Intergenerational Schools as it pertains to all aspects of the Model Education Plan are upheld by school leadership and faculty at Lakeshore Intergenerational School.
  • Maintain model integrity, ensure and monitor quality and consistency of the curriculum, instruction and assessment across all classrooms
  • Support curriculum, instructional methods, and assessment protocols that lead to continuous improvement of student outcomes.
  • As a Model Leader, along with fellow Principals, Operations Directors and the Executive Director, contribute to the creation, development, revision, and implementation of educational and operational policies and procedures across the Model.
  • With school staff, analyze data to determine building educational goals and priorities.
  • Oversee special education programing, ensuring compliance with all laws pertaining to students with disabilities.

Classroom Student Enrollment: Talent Management and Acquisition: Educational Compliance & Board Policies and Compliance: Minimum Qualifications:
  • Fostering school communities in which students at graduation are prepared for high quality high schools which meet their academic and life needs
  • Analyze and respond to student behavior data to improve outcomes for all students
  • Work with and support the school family group in engaging families and encouraging their participation in school and with their child’s learning.
  • Ensure highest levels of student retention year over year through active family engagement and fostering strong relationships between families and teachers and staff.
  • Work with the Enrollment Specialist to meet enrollment and recruitment goals on an annual basis.
  • Determine projections and class configurations, and maintain class rosters in real time to indicate where any openings may exist.
  • Partner with the Enrollment Specialist, Student Wellness Coordinators, and other model and school staff members to develop meaningful community partnerships in the surrounding neighborhood.
  • Evaluate teachers in the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) 2.0 teacher evaluation system utilizing the Ohio Evaluation System (Ohio ES).
  • With the Executive Director and the other School Principals, establish standards for professional development within the model, and ensure that all components of LPDC and Resident Educator Programs are being effectively fulfilled.
  • Recruit and retain talented, diverse educators for the school.
  • Respond to requests for updates, revisions, or development of new policies through work with Executive Director, Sponsors, Legal Advisors, Board Committee members, fellow Principals and Operations Directors to ensure the schools are compliant with all educational laws, regulations and other policies (including but not limited to: special needs, standardized testing, and discipline).
  • Assist with annual revisions to Staff and Family Handbooks for all Model Staff and Families.
  • Respond to data requests and reports from sponsors, Ohio Department of Education, or other regulatory bodies.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the Intergenerational School Model.
  • Commitment to lifelong, intergenerational learning
  • Master’s Degree in education or related field; educational leadership preferred
  • Ohio teaching license or demonstrated successful teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (speaking, listening, and writing) with students, staff, families, and community members
  • Knowledge of current theory and research in education and related fields
  • Knowledge of and commitment to holistic, learner-centered, integrated/interdisciplinary, developmental, constructivist teaching/learning pedagogy
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in and develop the school as a collaborative decision making environment
  • Supervisory experience (experience with OTES 2.0/OPES 2.0preferred)
