The Heart and Vascular Clinic RN will be responsible for monitoring and admisitering Treadmill Stress Testing.

  • Shift Details: Four 10 hour shifts – 2 days a week administering stress tests, 2 days performing other RN duties; shifts will fall between 7am to 5:30pm; weekdays – no weekends or holidays

Job Description:The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. Clinic RNs are pivotal members of the care delivery team headed by the physician and have specialized knowledge, skills and ability pertinent to patient care needs. This position is responsible for:
  • Administering Treadmill Stress Testing - helps guide patients through the procedure, monitoring their response to testing and record keeping to provide exceptional care to patients and results to ordering provider.
  • Works with physicians and serves as the technical expert on various non-invasive testing applications.
  • Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information in order to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the physician and assists with computerized charting and order entry.
  • Explains the test and obtains consent prior to stress testing.
  • Evaluates baseline vital signs and EKG for appropriateness prior to initiating stress portion of the exam.
  • Performs exercise stress test, MPI stress tests, echo stress tests, and EKG interpretation.
  • Ensures an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to trouble shoot minor problems, make adjustments as needed during the procedure, and prepares recordings for interpretation.
  • Assesses patient post stress for clinical instability and manage side effects of stress agents if required per established protocols.
  • Completes stress test report via Synapse and written report and prepares preliminary reports for final interpretation by the cardiologist.
  • Assists with activities to improve department processes, facilitate testing and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results.
  • Prioritization and triage of care delivery, implementing established standing orders and protocols, performing procedures and therapies consistent with training and licensure.
  • Performs general nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.
  • Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition.
  • Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
  • Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response. Refer to/consult with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.
  • Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
  • Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and abides by service behavior standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • ASN / ADN from an accredited program with the ability to obtain your BSN from an accredited program within four (4) years of hire unless you possess a minimum of fifteen (15) years of proven continuous Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting
  • Current Colorado RN license or compact license with the ability to obtain Colorado RN license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association is required prior to start
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • One year experience in a cardiac clinic setting or inpatient acute hospital setting with a Cardiac focus is strongly preferred
  • Experience in telemetry, EKG tracking or Cath Lab is also helpful
