Job Summary:

Assist in the maintenance and repair of entire Grand Canyon Railway Hotel facilities utilizing crafts trades personnel in a safe and efficient manner ensuring minimum downtime. Assisting with Projects both Capital and Property Related.

The Details:Position Type: Full-Time, Year-RoundSchedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Manage the facilities crafts trade’s personnel in the day to day operations of the Facilities Department.
  • Ensure that work orders are being properly assigned and completed in a timely manner, and work order paperwork is properly completed.
  • Ensure that work orders involving revenue rooms are given first priority to keep out-of -order time and guest inconvenience to a minimum. Conduct continual follow-up on work orders to ensure completion and quality.
  • Coordinate with Risk Management, follow-up and completion of noted life safety work orders.
  • Provide technical assistance to the crafts personnel as necessary.
  • Assist in developing and administering annual department financial plan, submitting monthly variance comments, and assisting in managing the department P&L.
  • Interview and select facilities crafts personnel from applications provided by Human Resources.
  • Communicate status of work orders to department heads as requested by the department.
  • Work closely with Department of Sustainability and Risk in providing training programs for all facilities staff.
  • Communicate with Parts Clerk on parts availability, inventory and ordering.
  • Ensure that assigned vehicles are going in for preventive maintenance and scheduled service.
  • Ensure that Preventive Maintenance is being followed for all designated equipment.
  • Ensure that staff is following all prescribed Company and statutory/regulatory policies and procedures regarding worker safety, risk management, environmental policies, HAZMAT, HAZCOM, confined space, lockout-tagout and vehicle operation.
  • Attend assigned weekly and monthly meetings as assigned.
  • Work with GM and Director of Projects and Facilities on capital projects including writing scopes, bidding, and project supervision.
  • Provide maintenance support as needed to the Grand Hotel and Trading Post, including supplying parts as needed.
  • This is an on-call position and must be available on call during the evenings, weekends and holidays as call-outs occur unless otherwise approved by the Director of Projects and Facilities.
  • Responsible for working closely with management and supervisory staff to ensure that personnel are effectively and continually being monitored and evaluated to ensure an individual’s performance is at an acceptable level; ensures manager completes performance evaluations, and ensures the issuances of HIG’s are done following the appropriate timeline established by the department, submitting them into HR in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that any assigned Kronos (time keeping system) is monitored daily for entire department. Ensure Kronos is verified daily by 10am and entire payroll completed for payroll period end (PPE).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License, and be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
  • Two - Three years minimum supervisory or foreman experience in building construction, construction maintenance or maintenance engineering type operation. Experience in scheduling fifteen-plus staff for seven day a week operation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journeyman certification in one of the following trades; electrician, plumber, carpenter or refrigeration/HVAC and thorough knowledge of the main crafts trades including electrician, plumbing, carpentry, painting, boiler technician and refrigeration/HVAC.
  • Computer skills with ability to use MS Office programs (Word and Excel)

Physical Requirements include:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, walking, balancing, climbing, twisting, eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, handling, wrist motion, bending/ stooping, ascending and descending ladder.
  • Trunk Strength-The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving our or fatiguing.
  • Static Strength-The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
  • Constant carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 10lbs.
  • Frequently carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 25lbs.
  • Occasionally carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 100lbs.
  • Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.
  • Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.
