Job Description

The Director of Warehouse Operations is responsible for overseeing warehouse and logistics personnel and the processes and workflows related to receiving, put away, replenishment, shipping, and inventory management at IGF’s primary location. The Director of Operations also works closely with the managers of each of IGF’s three branches in Atlanta, GA, Charleston, SC, and Chicago, IL to coordinate and standardize operations-related policies and practices.

The Director spends 60 percent of their time on the warehouse floor and 40 percent at a desk. The individual in the role must have excellent communication and management skills and the proven ability to design, build, and implement new workflows. The Director of Operations reports to the President.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Direct and coordinate IGF warehousing and logistics activities related to receiving, shipping, and inventory.
2. Direct and coordinate all other warehouse and logistics functions, including administrative, facilities, and safety activities
3. Create budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility; gather and analyze warehousing and logistics performance to measure productivity, assess progress toward budgetary goals, improve efficiency, and reduce cost
4. Coordinate with department leaders and team members to design and implement department- and team-level goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
5. Oversee and support the coordinators’ and captains’ management practices, including employee vetting, hiring, training, scheduling, work assignments, termination, performance reviews, disciplinary and corrective actions, and continuous improvement
6. Manage product movement within and between IGF facilities to ensure efficiency and control cost
7. Coordinate and work to standardize warehousing and logistics operations at IGF headquarters and with IGF branch locations
8. Oversee facility-related construction and other projects; contribute to long-term organizational planning, including recommending building and racking design changes and new facility locations
9. Oversee third-party relationships with inbound fleet and transportation services providers
10. Work closely the operations captains, coordinators, and other members of the IGF executive team to participate in regular management reviews geared toward goal-setting and continuous process improvement

2. Experience in distribution, logistics, and warehousing or comparable fields
3. Project management and team leadership experience
