Are you a problem solver with a passion for helping others? Do you find fulfillment in helping clients and ensuring their needs are met? If so, then our temporary, full-time Refugee Client Assistance Specialist in our Command Center at the International Institute of St Louis is the perfect opportunity for you! As a Refugee Client Assistance Specialist , you will directly interact with clients and providing them with the emergency support and assistance they need.

This position is currently funded through September 30, 2024.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Helping with housing set ups, airport pick ups
  • Helping with grocery store shopping
  • Interpretation of client needs
  • Help with the Community Bazaar
  • Help with the Food distribution.
  • Engage with IISTL volunteers as needed.
  • Assist in child activities when needed.
  • Attend community partner meetings every Tuesday.
  • Attend staff meetings.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Flexibility in adapting to client issues and team needs
  • Ability to manage multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with community resources
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information.
  • Ability to work productively in a multicultural environment and demonstrate respect for differences.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft 365.
  • Must have a car and a valid driver's license with proof of insurance
  • Ability to speak a language of refugee groups is required. Most prevalent languages needed are Arabic, Swahili or Somali, Farsi, Dari, Pashtu, or Spanish.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of an Associate degree; related experience
