IRI is creating student and employee partnerships that facilitate growth and development of IRI’s future leadership. The intern will support the work of IRI’s Procurement Division.
This position will start on September 9, 2024 for no more than sixteen (16) weeks and may not be extended. This is a paid position, at $17.50 per hour. Intern working hours will be minimum 20 hours per week. The Internship will end on December 20, 2024.

  • Current student in or recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with basic SharePoint functions
  • Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively, complete tasks with minimal oversight, and communicate clearly and consistently in a virtual work environment.
  • Willingness to learn and share knowledge in software, systems, and processes and to take the initiative to understand, create, and review financial transactions
  • Ability to be detail-orientated and highly organized.
  • Ability to analyze complex policies, procedures and checklists to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement.
Ability to proofread and edit documents to ensure clarity and consistent language is used Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inventory assessments of internal resources, identifying areas requiring development and enhancement.
  • Perform thorough reviews of existing internal procurement policies, procedures, and resources, detecting any disparities or gaps within the documentation.
  • Analyze policies, procedures and checklists documents across procurement comparing documented processes with actual practices to identify and address discrepancies.
  • Provide administrative support for annual, funder and program audits.
  • Take notes at staff meetings, drafting memos and documentation in support of subaward and contract close-out documents.
  • Supports procurement and program staff in managing and analyzing subaward financial reports for grants within a portfolio.
  • Assist in downloading and preparing reports and presentations
  • Assist procurement staff with program administration and events, including tracking pending reports, outstanding invoices for expired contracts and other related tasks as needed

  • Acquire knowledge of the democracy and governance field of international development including aspects related to financial management, subawards monitoring, and audit preparation requirements.
  • Experience in key project administration skills employers look for in entry level candidates.
  • Understanding and maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality regarding sensitive data.
