Job Overview: IRC is seeking an Art & Wellness Specialist to offer art & wellness group sessions in summer 2024. Primary responsibilities for the Art & Wellness Specialist will be in developing and implementing curricula for psychosocial support and art groups, as well as facilitating these sessions with clients.
The Specialist will also be responsible for organizing and recruiting clients to participate in the groups, and in organizing group logistics. The specialist will organize two art & wellness group cohorts with 10 participants each, and each cohort will include 4 sessions. At the end of the 4 sessions, participants from both cohorts will be invited to display their artwork at a public exhibit, which will be organized by the Art & Wellness Specialist.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Plan and facilitate 2 art & wellness psychosocial support groups, each with 4 sessions (a total of 8 sessions)
  • Plan and design curriculum for support groups, organize art materials to be ordered for groups, and recruit participants
  • Document program activities through case notes and data entry.
  • Plan and organize art exhibit at end of the 4 sessions
  • Other duties, as required.

Indirect Reporting: Senior Manager for Health and Wellness
Other Internal and/or External Contacts:
Internal: Members of IRC's SASIC and Mental Health Teams, other IRC teams
External: Partner organizations (e.g. Iraqi Community Association and Kent Library)
Job Requirements:
  • Background in art and ability to facilitate art groups and teach art to a diverse audience of participants
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively across lines of difference with respect to race, gender, ethnicity, language, religion and age.
  • Ability to follow strict guidelines of client confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with data-tracking systems.
  • Commitment to anti-racism and ongoing learning.
