Job Overview: The Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) is part of the International Rescue Committee. It offers small loans to help refugees, immigrants, and others who often don't have easy access to financial services. These loans help start small businesses or handle personal expenses. CEO works with trusted community groups that teach financial skills and help build assets.

Job Summary:The Loan Officer will handle the evaluation and final steps of loan applications, focusing mainly on business loans of up to $50,000. This role includes checking application details to ensure they meet our standards and working directly with loan applicants when needed. The Loan Officer will also explore new loan products and market opportunities to help CEO's mission.

Location: Anywhere in the U.S. (Remote)

Major Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and decide on business and personal loan applications.
  • Check application materials thoroughly and look for any potential risks, offering solutions when necessary.
  • Help loan applicants understand the process and improve their financial health.
  • Work with referral partners to obtain additional information on loan applications.
  • Package and present loan applications to the external loan committee.
  • Develop new financial products and improve the loan process.
  • Manage loan collections and stay updated with related laws.
  • Support various team projects and training initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; a further degree in business or finance is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience with small business loans; prefer experience with supporting applications for start-up businesses and for clients without traditional financial statements and documents. SBA Microloan and Consumer loan experience is a plus.
  • Must understand the community finance industry.
  • Excellent skills in financial analysis, communication, and using Microsoft Office and loan software.
  • Must be great with people and dedicated to serving a diverse community.

Working Environment:

  • This job is fully remote and open to anyone in the U.S., though some travel may be needed for meetings or conferences (less than 5% of the time).

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits. All US employees are eligible for sick time, a 403b retirement savings plans: up to 4.5% immediately vested matching contribution, plus an 3-7% additional IRC contribution, and an Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support in times of crisis and mental health struggles.

In addition, full-time employees are eligible for 10 US paid holidays, 20-25 paid time off days, disability & life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance (employee contribution starting at $135, $7, and $5 per month respectively) and FSA for healthcare, childcare, and commuter costs. Part-time employees are eligible for a proportionate amount of paid time off. These additional benefits apply to employees who work at least 6 months within a 12 month time period.
