International Representative - SBU Servicing Rep, UAW Stellantis Department

The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) is a 400,000-member-strong, progressive, militant union with one of the largest and most diverse memberships in North America. Our members are employed in a range of workplaces, from multinational corporations to small manufacturers and state and local governments to colleges and universities, hospitals, and private non-profit organizations.

The UAW is seeking a Servicing Representative to assist the Salaried Bargaining Unit members. This role involves assisting and mentoring local leadership with questions pertaining to contractual interpretation or issues, support pertaining to bargaining, strikes, grievances, arbitration, and other inquiries. This position will involve strategizing, mentoring, and working closely with a team of dedicated staff to support leadership and members. Candidates require the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a diverse team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison to local unions for the purposes of achieving, maintaining, and sustaining communication between local unions (including its various units), Regions, and the UAW International (and its various departments)
  • Assist locals and units in contract negotiations: developing and drafting demands, contract language, initial proposals, and counterproposals
  • Assist locals and units in organizing membership mobilizations and campaign strategies to win strong contracts
  • Assist with grievance handling, disciplinary proceedings, and arbitration, including working with International departments as needed
  • Develop and conduct training of union stewards, delegates, officers, and bargaining committee representatives; working with regional education representatives when needed.
  • Assist locals in the coordination of political advocacy efforts, working with regional CAP representatives when needed.
  • Participate in activities and priorities including organizing, strike assistance, and political and legislative advocacy campaigns.
  • Exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence in collaborative settings, fostering a supportive and efficient team environment.
  • To support all National Departments and Officers upon request and coordinate internally with various departments as appropriate to support department objectives.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Must be a UAW member in continuous good standing of the International Union for a period of (1) year, pursuant to Article 14, section 3 of the UAW Constitution.
  • Minimum five years’ experience. Collective bargaining experience as a negotiator or bargaining committee representative, specifically experience with the SBU (Salaried Bargaining Unit).
  • Experience organizing membership mobilizations
  • Aptitude for building relationships with individuals from varied backgrounds
  • Familiarity with basic labor law
  • Good listener; strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Flexibility to work long hours, including nights and weekends
  • Aptitude for mentoring and fostering strong teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that support a respectful and positive work environment.
  • Ability to find solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, manage time and priorities is a necessity.
  • Basic understanding or proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)

Salary and Benefits
