Job Description:

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our dynamic research team focused to advance the understanding of compressible reactive flows. The successful candidate will work on direct and large-eddy simulations of compressible reactive flows and develop novel subgrid strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct direct and large eddy simulations of compressible reactive flows.
  • Develop numerical methods and subgrid models for high-fidelity computations.
  • Develop a research code infrastructure for testing methods and models.
  • Analyze simulation data using Python scripting.
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, providing guidance and support in their research.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in designing experiments, analyzing results, and disseminating findings through publications and presentations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate findings into broader research efforts.

    Required Minimum Qualifications:

    PhD

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Combustion Science, or related field.

    • Strong background in high-speed combustion, detonation waves, and fluid dynamics.

    • Expertise in high-fidelity numerical methods and subgrid-scale modeling techniques.

    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C , or Fortran.

    • Experience in developing codes from scratch for computational simulations.
