Job Overview:
The Senior Corporate Controls Engineer serves as a subject matter expert in Process Automation including the programming, maintenance and troubleshooting of control devices. The role is also involved in electrical design, controls network architecture, and process control strategies.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical / chemical engineering or and engineering degree equivalent.
  • 5 years’ experience in chemical batch processing.
  • 8 years’ experience in leading and executing capital electrical and controls projects in a chemical or process industry. Ability to define and develop controls projects with the plant operations groups and corporate customers.
  • 8 years’ experience in the support of manufacturing process control hardware and software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in developing and tracking project plans and schedules.
  • Experience working in manufacturing and willing to provide hands-on support at IP production facilities.
  • Ability to lead remote project teams and travel approximately 30% to company locations as needed for scope definition, design development and project implementation. Willingness to adjust work hours and days to complete critical project tasks.
  • Experience in preparing requests for bids and administering design and construction contracts.
  • Experience with contract integration services and in the supervision of electrical and other trades.
  • Consistent execution of projects to budget and schedule.
  • Proficient in Rockwell RS View Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View SE & ME, SQL, and data historian databases.
  • Proficient AutoCAD software for use in P&ID and electrical drawing development.
  • Experience in integrator management.
  • Experience in Stratix managed switch networks.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in control network management and brokering resources with internal and external IT resources.
  • Experience with OSHA Process Safety Management.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working with office equipment.
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone, keyboard, mouse, and office equipment such as printers, scanners, etc.
  • Lifting to 10 lbs. regularly and up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
Essential FunctionsExecutive Capital Projects
  • Assist engineering groups in developing the electrical and process control scope of work for capital projects.
  • Execute capital controls projects. Manage projects to scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Provide supervision for electrical contractors and team startup assistance as needed.
Develop Project Content
  • Develop and implement control system strategies to improve the safety, efficiency, capacity, and quality of existing chemical process operations.
  • Maintain long term automation plans to integrate all batch operations using Rockwell’s FactoryTalk Batch suite.
  • Ensure Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance.
  • Follow “best practices” and Corporate Standards for instrumentation, control network architecture, and process controls.
Support Plant Operations
  • Support site staff during process upsets. Assist with field instrumentation installation and troubleshooting.
  • Provide control designs for process upgrades including panel design and HMI and controller programming.
  • Foster collaboration across stake holders to develop and promote standardized and best practices for process control systems.
  • Create recipe configurations for new products.
  • Maintain site lists of Control devices and software.
Support Corporate Engineering
  • Advise on innovative technologies available to further best practices and enhance standards.
  • Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders on control designs including panel design, HMI, and controller programming.
