Iredell-Statesville Schools is Hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor Near Statesville, NC
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field required. Must have certification in good standing as either a LPC or LCSW; current Clinical Addiction Specialist license; and at least 3 years of substance abuse counseling experience.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities
- Conducts substance abuse assessments of students for the purpose of recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to maximize learning and overcome substance abuse issues.
- Collaborates with parents/guardians, other school-based mental health providers, teaching staff, and administrators to understand individual students’ needs as related to substance abuse.
- Develops treatment plans to assist students with overcoming substance abuse.
- Conducts individual and group counseling/treatment related to substance abuse for students across the district.
- Implements an effective referral and follow-up process, as needed. Keeps accurate data on all substance abuse related needs.
- Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to familiarize stakeholders with substance abuse issues and services.
- Serves as a resource and consultant on substance abuse and related issues; conducts in-service programs as requested.
- Maintains current and appropriate resources dealing with substance abuse for education stakeholders.
- Serves as ready resource to students to provide counseling that will assist students in overcoming substance abuse. This position is based at Northview Alternative School site. Will provide group and individual intervention to NVA students.
- Continues to acquire required and choice professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships.
- Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping.
- Maintains accurate grant data for federal reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
