What We’re Looking ForIf you are a science and space enthusiast who is excited about working on cutting-edge technology and with a talented team of professionals, then you will be excited about the Principal Cloud Engineer position with Iridium for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As a Principal Cloud Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure systems using Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will thrive and succeed in this role if you have a deep understanding of cloud architecture and design.
This position requires an active/current Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
What You’ll Do

• Design and deploy applications utilizing the AWS stack to build scalable, secure, and robust cloud solutions
• Play a key role in creating and implementing automation processes and standards for AWS cloud service
• Be responsible for ensuring all infrastructure components meet proper performance and security standards
• Work independently to conduct systems tests for security, performance, and availability
• Develop and maintain design and troubleshooting documentation

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a combination of equivalent education and work experience/certifications
• 10 years of relevant experience in IT systems and infrastructure with at least 5 years of experience supporting Cloud on AWS
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, cloud security, observability, container services on AWS
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
• Can easily build meaningful relationships with others, including senior leadership outside of your own department, and is comfortable providing constructive feedback to your team members and management
• Be able to analyze a situation or problem, generate effective solutions, and see those solutions through to completion
• Must possess the creativity and resourcefulness needed to make reliable decisions and determine methods on new assignments
• Can thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks and managing shifting priorities
• Be proactive in sharing knowledge you’ve learned with others

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table

• AWS Cloud Certification
• Direct experience with Government customers in a classified environment

We’ll also need you to

• Be able to support 24/7 on-call on an as-needed basis
• Be able to travel up to 10%
• Be a US Citizen

Work EnvironmentThis position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in-person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
