A Network System Technician is responsible for assisting the Engineering team in monitoring, expanding, provisioning services, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Title level and salary will be commensurate with experience and education.

As a Network System Technician, you will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our telecommunications systems. You will leverage your technical expertise to ensure our network infrastructure's reliability, scalability, and performance. You will also work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Responsibilities:

System Design, Maintenance and Provisioning:

  • Run diagnostic tests on communication between network equipment
  • Configure, provision, troubleshoot, and update networking equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient system designs.

Network Monitoring and Optimization:

  • Oversee the implementation and deployment of telecommunications systems, including hardware and software components.
  • Optimize network performance and troubleshoot complex issues to ensure seamless and reliable operation.
  • Ensures the system operates in line with specifications by monitoring equipment functions.

Customer Care and Escalations:

  • Provide technical end-user support, troubleshoot network issues, and resolve them.
  • Communicate with end users to understand and troubleshoot problems.
  • Assist the NOC (Network Operations Center) Technicians with escalations

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with project managers, network engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to develop and maintain network infrastructure.
  • Provide remote technical support to on-site field technicians.
  • Collaborates with the Engineering team to review and analyze hardware and software needs; recommends appropriate changes.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard telecommunications systems and data.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Create comprehensive technical documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, capacity, and reliability.
  • Develops and maintains records related to network buildouts and customer circuits.

Network System Technician Qualifications include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, telecommunications, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience 1-3 years in designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale telecommunications systems.
  • Experience with Ciena, Juniper, Cyan, and/or Arista is a plus.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and software related to telecommunications.
  • Proficiency in system integration, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
