Principal Java Engineer

New Iron is seeking a seasoned Principal Java Engineer to join our cybersecurity team in Austin, TX.

You must have solid experience with Java, JVM, and data structures fundamentals.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating highly scalable applications from existing use cases and has worked on enterprise-level and/or cybersecurity products.

What you’ll do:

• Lead the development of creative innovative SaaS solutions that fulfill current requirements and adapt to evolving needs.
• Refactor existing codebase to improve scalability and performance for a high-growth product
• Provide technical leadership to support the implementation of the product roadmap
• Participate in requirements review, plan releases, future production direction and recruitment
• Take initiative by designing solutions, reviewing code, helping junior developers, and making technical decision
• Write clean, well-designed code following industry best practices
• Work and collaborate with a high performing cross-functional teams around the world

Should Have:

• 7 years experience with Java/Spring Boot (or similar language) for building SaaS applications.
• Experience building applications that connect with other systems using RESTful APIs.
• Experience in database management systems such as Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.
• Ability to debug and narrow down performance issues
• Experience in characterizing end-to-end system performance including system, infrastructure, and application performance tuning
• Experience in capacity estimating, modeling, or planning and application and architecture code profiling
• Solid automation skills including test scripting and test data management
• Model and Analyze workloads to drive system architecture and design direction
• Ability to distill volumes of data, analyze performance results, and diagnose performance problems
• Ability to clearly characterize system performance to stakeholders with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excited about working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment using Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• BS and/or Master in Computer Science or engineering degree
