Overview: Do you have excellent customer service skills and previous billing experience then we want you! This position requires a great attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to think critically. In this position you will assist patients with their account activity and work as a team member to ensure reimbursement for services in a timely manner. This is a Full-time 40 hour per week Monday through Friday day shift!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review patient accounts and/or follow-up on outstanding balances.
• Works Self-Pay and Patient Direct Billing AR sending statements or letters and making phone calls and collecting payments via Secure Bill Pay.
• Contact patients to resolve unpaid accounts. Explains to patients all payments made on their account.
• Documents all conversations and work in Notes in system.
• Review and send patient statements monthly.
• Checks AHCCS eligibility for all no ins/self-pay accounts min. of twice monthly.
• Performs insurance verifications as needed.
• By using Secure Bill Pay, maintains Payment Plan accounts. Monitoring that approved arrangements are adhered to.
• Communicates with Financial Counselors at offices or other business office employees as needed.
• Prepares and maintain collection related documents, data and reports in compliance with all State and Federal laws pertaining to healthcare reimbursement. Communicates and maintains approval from treating physician for sending pts to collection.
• Responds to correspondence and calls from patients and/or third party organizations regarding outstanding balances.
• Prepares paperwork for adjustments, posting corrections, charge corrections or refunds for review and approval.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Working knowledge of NCCN guidelines and CCI edits.
• Knowledge of appealing claims with payers chemotherapy related drugs, supplies utilized and SNF, LTC and Hospice in relation to insurance benefits.
• Knowledge of governmental, legal and regulatory provisions related to collection activities.
• Knowledge of CPT, Dx, HCPCS coding a plus.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics.
• Accounting knowledge a must.
• Able to be in a seated position, talk on the phone, repetitive keyboard usage and clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Education and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years in the healthcare reimbursement field.
