Irvine Ranch Conservancy is Hiring a Field Technician, Planning & Infrastructure Near Irvine, CA

About the Position : Irvine Ranch Conservancy ( IRC ) has an opening for a full-time Field Technician on the Planning and Infrastructure team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work outdoors and learn new skills. On any given day the Field Technician might be responsible for a range of activities from construction to routine maintenance like mowing trails or repairing a fence. This position will work primarily outdoors on the thousands of acres of pristine wildlands that make up the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks in central and coastal Orange County. The Successful Candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with the following experience, skills, ability, and knowledge: Experience in safely using and maintaining field tools and maintenance equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and leaf-blowers. Ability to learn the methods and handle the equipment used in trail and landscape maintenance, erosion control, fencing and gate maintenance, weed removal, sign installation and maintenance, and facilities maintenance (kiosks, benches, bridges, etc.). Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in an outdoor setting at multiple locations. Ability to receive and understand instructions, ask appropriate questions , and carry out work assignments safely, accurately, and in a timely manner
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion, outdoors, in diverse weather conditions and on difficult and sometimes hazardous terrain. Also, to travel long distances on foot to remote worksites. Helpful, but not required : Familiarity with the plants and animals of the region, including the planting and care of trail-side native plants. About the Team : The Planning and Infrastructure team is responsible for constructing, maintaining , designing, and developing a vast network of roads, trails, signs, and facilities found on the land managed by IRC within the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks.
