Overview: The Production Manager at the Countertop Machine Shop plays a crucial role in overseeing the manufacturing operations related to countertop fabrication. This individual will lead a team of skilled technicians and operators, ensuring that production processes are optimized for efficiency, quality, and safety. The Production Manager will collaborate closely with other departments to meet customer demands, manage resources effectively, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Production Planning and Execution: Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer orders and delivery deadlines. Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to understand order requirements and prioritize production accordingly. Oversee the production floor, ensuring that machines and equipment are properly utilized and maintained to achieve optimal output. Quality Control and Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure that countertop products meet or exceed customer specifications and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections and quality checks throughout the production process to identify and address any defects or deviations. Implement corrective actions and process improvements to enhance product quality and consistency. Resource Management: Manage production resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel, to maximize efficiency and minimize waste. Optimize inventory levels to meet production demands while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts. Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials and supplies. Team Leadership and Development: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of technicians, machine operators, and support staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the production team. Address performance issues and provide constructive feedback to support employee growth and development. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards applicable to countertop manufacturing. Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries. Promote awareness of environmental sustainability practices and initiatives within the production facility. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, increase productivity, and reduce production costs. Implement lean manufacturing principles, 5S methodology, and other improvement tools to optimize workflow and eliminate waste. Solicit feedback from employees and stakeholders to identify opportunities for process innovation and efficiency gains. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field; or equivalent work experience. Proven experience in production management, preferably in a countertop fabrication or similar manufacturing environment. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others. Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory management principles. Knowledge of countertop fabrication processes and equipment, such as CNC machines, edge polishers, and bridge saws. Familiarity with quality management systems and quality assurance practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in MS Office applications and manufacturing software systems. Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
