SUMMARY:
Assistant Controller’s responsibilities include preparation of financial statements, reviewing/reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. Assistant Controller’s duties also include ensuring accuracy of reports and effectiveness of controls. Assistant Controller will be collaborating and/or managing a team of Accountants and/or Junior Accountants.
Desired competencies include proven senior level accounting experience with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ideal candidate must be able to establish priorities under tight deadlines and have a proven track record as a motivated, self-starter who can work on multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment. Incumbent is expected to have sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and tax regulations as well as competency with SAP and Microsoft Office Suite programs. Prior relevant experience in oil and gas, manufacturing industries are preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordinates month, quarter, and year end closing
2. Coordinates and prepares monthly, quarterly & annual financial reports and compliance requirements. Including preparation of schedules and supporting files for management and bank reporting
3. Coordinates and review monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
4. External audit coordinator
5. Helps with the preparation of plans, forecasts, and capital budgets
6. Assisting with billing and tax documentation preparation
7. Maintains general ledger, profit center and cost center master data in the system
8. Assists in maintaining and strengthening internal controls
9. Ensures accurate maintenance of financial data in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), tax and regulatory requirements and corporate policies
10. Collaborating with the IT department to maintain financial records and system processes
11. Excellent oral and written communication skills
12. Teamwork - Works effectively with coworkers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive, positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions; and respecting the diversity of the IES workforce in actions, words, and deeds
13. Maintains commitment to a high standard of safety, comply with all safety laws and IES safety policies/rules, and reports actual and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel to further IES core value of safety. As a supervisor, trains, mentors and coaches employees regarding safe work practices and documentation.
OTHER DUTIES:
1. Performs special project assignments; analysis, budgets, forecasts, and special reports as requested.
2. Keep the team aware and updated on new accounting standards that would affect the company’s books.
3. Performs other duties consistent with the scope of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
1. Certified Public Accountant
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
3. One to three years of experience in public accounting and/or three to five years of experience in financial accounting
4. Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, macros, etc.)

PAY AND BENEFITS:
Island Energy Services offers a competitive salary that commensurate with qualifications and experience. The hiring annualized salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000.
