Isuzu Commercial Truck of America (ICTA) is Hiring a Senior Engineer, Model Based Development Near Plymouth, MI
Job SummaryPursues state of the art development techniques to improve product energy efficiency, robustness, and minimize time and cost involved in developing new products. Develops and configures tools for model based software toolchain and provides engineering analysis from tests and simulation and reports findings. Position will receive limited direction from manager and provide guidance to more junior staff. Must be able to use independent judgment extensively. Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and maintains model-based software and participates in the deployment of the model based development (MBD) process within ITCA.
Develops and improves modeling capabilities, methodologies, processes, and tools. Develops specifications for software functions.
Performs statistical design of experiment (DOE) models and optimizations for combustion tests and simulations.
Conducts hardware performance analysis simulations and optimization tasks. Performs simulation and functional testing using Model-in-the-Loop, Software-in-the-Loop, and Hardware-in-the-Loop.
Contributes in the promotion of MBD techniques throughout engine and vehicle engineering process. Integrates, tests, and validates software modules and components.
Proactively works with Calibration Engineers who are responsible for testing and calibration release to optimize calibration content.
Works with Isuzu global teams in the development of high fidelity models for engines, aftertreatments, and vehicles.
Has responsibility for auto-coding of the production software in C according to automotive industry standards.

Education, Experience & Training
Master’s degree in Engineering
Advanced coursework in internal combustion engines preferred
Seminar/industrial training/experience in specialty preferred (GT-Suite, Matlab/Simulink/CAMEO)
Minimum five years of full-time work experience in automotive research and development, concentrated experience in automotive engine or aftertreatment development
KNOWLEDGE
Advanced knowledge of automotive products
Considerable knowledge of automotive mechanical/electrical systems
Skills & Abilities
Excellent PC skills in Windows applications
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Advanced skills in engine development as demonstrated by scholarly/industrial achievements
Ability to organize/develop project goals and time schedules in area of responsibility
Advanced report writing and analytical skills
Strong leadership skills
Must be able to obtain and keep a chauffeurs or commercial driving license and medical certificate
PHYSICAL STANDARDSEmployee must be able to perform occasional light lifting (5 - 25 lbs.) and rare heavy lifting (60 lbs.). Must be able on rare occasions to bend, crawl, climb, crouch, kneel and reach above shoulder level in the performance of job duties. Must be able to work in hot, cold, and high altitude extremes. Position requires 10 - 15% travel, including overnight and weekend stays. We are looking for up to a Senior level engineer. The pay scale for an Engineer I in this role is $76,302 to $95,378. The pay scale for an Engineer II in this role is $83,032 to $105,866. The pay scale for a Sr. Engineer in this role is $92,161 to $117,505.
