Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll Specialist oversees all aspects of the Company's payroll. This role is responsible for the coordination of payroll processing operations, ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government laws and regulations. Processes employees' paychecks by collecting their payroll data and timesheets, verifying employees' work hours and processing payment through the payroll system, issuing deductions, earnings and other statements to employees, and updating payroll records regularly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares and processes payroll and other financial documents
  • Reviews, calculates, and processes payroll changes and adjustments
  • Prepares and assists state and federal payroll, accounting and taxes
  • Coordinates Paycom timekeeping activities with all departments
  • Calculates and processes all elected and mandatory payroll deductions including taxes, child support orders, insurances, and garnishments
  • Trains and assists employees who perform entry of time and attendance functions
  • Generates payroll and financial reports including general for various departments
  • Complies bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports
  • Maintains personnel database regarding salaries
  • Addresses and resolves employee complaints relating to the payroll system
  • Continues to stay current on payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
  • Upholds employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Prepares and maintain an automated record of accumulated vacation and sick time along with any special payroll funds and reports
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
  • At least two years related experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
  • Good understanding of the basic accounting procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Working understanding of Human Resources principles, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient with HRIS, Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel or related software
  • Working knowledge of overtime laws, employment laws, and company policies
PREFERRED
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in business or accounting
  • Certified Payroll Professional

WORKING CONDITIONS/EQUIPMENT USE
  • Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment - not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds
  • Frequent use of office machines to include telephone, computer, and printer
