Sr. Database Administrator Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Position Type: Onsite Job Summary:
The Sr. Database Administrator's primary responsibilities include the operation, maintenance, administration, and backup of databases. This role demands proficiency in Oracle and MS SQL Server, supporting all aspects of database administration. The position involves defining, developing, and documenting standardized database procedures, tools, backup and recovery methods, performance tuning methods, and disaster planning. Additionally, the DBA will provide mission and life-critical 24x7 database support on operating systems, interface with users, gather and perform requirements analysis, and offer project recommendations. The candidate will serve as the database subject matter expert and support rapid application development by designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications and updates.
Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, administer, and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company database.
• Resolve database performance and capacity issues, and manage replication and other distributed data issues.
• Support disaster recovery planning and business continuity actions with other groups and departments.
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support.
• Maintain a strong customer service orientation.
• Be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures regarding database implementation, troubleshooting, backups, restores, and upgrades.
• Experience using ETL (Export, Transfer & Load) applications.
• Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Perform a variety of tasks under general supervision.
• Exhibit a degree of creativity and latitude in their work.
• Lead or participate in solution design, project management, and operational duties to ensure exceptional quality of service throughout the enterprise.
• Work across IT functional boundaries with other administrators (system, SAN, network, etc.) for configuration, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and system management for optimum performance and reliability.
• Report any server performance issues that will impact mission operations.
• Create, document, and implement repeatable processes to install, test, upgrade, maintain, and secure servers and related software.
• Ensure all server configuration changes have been approved by the government CMR process and documented prior to implementation.
• Assist in researching, documenting, and recommending new system-related technologies and migration paths to enhance, improve, automate, and update the operational environment.
• Install, build, rebuild, configure, maintain, secure, document, and administer databases, system-related products, hardware, peripherals, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with standards and operational requirements.
• Maintain daily operations, monitoring, problem identification/resolution of database servers/systems, applications, operating systems, and analyze activity and performance to ensure optimum performance and availability.

Experience / Background:

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience in database administration, OR applicable experience in database administration.
• Experience with Oracle RDBMS, MS SQL, Oracle Enterprise Manager, backup/recovery processes, Linux, Windows, and basic AWS skills.
• Strong communication and troubleshooting skills.
• RAK (Rapid Application Development) experience is required.
• Experience in the utility industry is required.

Required Certifications:

• AWS training is a plus.
• Any Database training and certificates are a plus.
