The Registered Nurse in the Surgical Oncology Unit (3N) specializes in Surgical Oncology promoting safe recovery from surgeries that manage gastrointestinal cancer, chronic bowel disease, and hernia repairs. This individual will also gain experience in managing ostomies, complex wound care, and opioid-sparing pain management. A Registered Nurse on this unit will assist with bedside procedures, are trained in pain management, management of therapeutic specialty beds, hemodynamic monitoring, and are also trained in the insertion of small-bore feeding tubes and bowel management devices.
The Surgical Oncology unit is a fast-paced environment and provides excellent team collaboration. Our Registered Nurses educate patients and families of the illness while building professional relationships.

Qualifications/knowledge/skills/abilities
• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
