Overview
Performs light preventative maintenance on vehicles, including washing and cleaning, oil changes, greasing, and inspection of hoses, belts, fluids and wiring. Assesses a variety of electrical, mechanical and electromechanical patient care systems and equipment to ensure all are in operational order. Assists in establishing and sustaining appropriate preventative maintenance schedules to ensure proper maintenance and integrity of department systems, equipment and vehicles. Provides recommendation and justification for supply and equipment purchases to appropriate personnel. Tracks and reports fiscal management pertaining to acquisition, usage and repair of all ambulance assets. Operates vehicles as needed.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires a valid Indiana driver's license.
• Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification for Ambulance within 18 months of hire.
• ASE or other mechanic designation for diesel engine repair and maintenance is preferred. ,Requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
• Requires knowledge of EMS codes and regulations.
• Requires familiarity with troubleshooting techniques, inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Requires familiarity with basic hand and machine tools, soldering, designated preventive maintenance and other test equipment.
• Requires ability to read and interpret information from blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
• Requires basic understanding of infection control.
• Requires familiarity with CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) standards.
