The Maintenance Custodian has responsibility for routine cleaning, sanitation and safety of Ivy Tech Community College Richmond facilities and grounds as assigned.

Cleans floors, ramps, and stairs by sweeping, wet mopping/dust mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.

Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms, classrooms, labs, and common spaces. Gathers & empties recycling and trash.

Cleans and polishes fixtures. Cleans windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.

Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.

Dusts furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.

Removes trash and waste, including biohazardous materials.

Completes assigned work orders on time.

Performs seasonal tasks outside as assigned.

Loads/unloads and delivers equipment, furniture and supplies as directed.

Operates grounds, maintenance, and custodial equipment.

Performs first echelon maintenance on equipment.

Assists with special events as directed.

Performs carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning.

Strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors.

Preforms light building maintenance.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Climbs ladders and works at heights above ground level.

Ability to follow safe work practices in biohazard and/or hazardous waste clean-up (i.e. blood borne pathogens and other laboratory wastes, corrosive wastes from cleaning operations, other miscellaneous wastes from across campus)

Ability to lift and move 70lbs.

Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

Ability to become proficient in required computer software.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate or equivalent.

Valid driver's license and meet insurability requirements under Ivy Tech Community College's driver insurance program.

Two years related work experience preferred.
