Ixana is Hiring a NSF Postdoctoral Fellow - Hardware Design Near Lafayette, IN

Note

This NSF-funded position requires a PhD in Hardware Design, especially wearables or other on-body devices.

Company

ixana.ai is a Purdue University spinoff, developing nervous system-inspired wearable computing. We have assembled a team of leading experts in the field of IC/system design, embedded software and system design with an appetite for taking on the next big thing. Come join us in the journey of transforming the future with high-speed human-computer interfaces that amplify your potential with all-day real-time AI.

Why should you be excited?

You have heard of Bluetooth, you have heard of Wi-Fi, Ixana has developed a fundamentally new wireless technology, Wi-R which is 100x lower energy than Bluetooth/Wi-Fi. Check out ixana.ai for videos on how Wi-R streams high speed data through your skin.

Role Overview

The Postdoctoral Fellow will report to Prof. Shreyas Sen, Founder and CTO, Ixana, and will assist in research on hardware design with our ultra-low-power body-area-communication ICs. You'll collaborate with multi-disciplinary collaborators with expertise in microelectronics, wireless communication, electromagnetics and biology.

The key role would be to lead the development of Wi-R into research prototypes. You'll be expected to write multiple patents a year.

The position is fully-funded and is available for at least 2 years. Anticipated start date: ASAP.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess a broad set of experiences, including embedded design, analog/mixed signal design, power systems, wearables, or lower power design and has conducted research broadly in the field of human-computer interfaces (HCI)

• PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field

• Strong experience in analyzing key systems engineering architectural trade-offs; power budgeting, analysis, and characterization; and design of high performance, low-power products

• Strong experience in measurement and design with uV level signals, preferably on wearables or any other on-body, in-body device

• Embedded programming experience

• Experience with lab measurements, characterization, debugging

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of compact, low-power, low-noise frontend circuit design is highly desirable

• Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence Orcad, Altium or equivalent

• Experience with use of standard electrical engineering tools such as oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers and function generators

• Experience with mixed domain circuit design, filter design, operation/instrumentation amplifiers, ADC/DACs, power supply design, high speed differential circuits, uControllers, uProcessors, and programmable logic based development

The position is based in our West Lafayette, IN office.

The compensation for this position includes bonuses and equity beyond what is offered by NSF.
